Manage student enrolments

Now that your course has content, it’s time to enrol students! Enrolments connect users to courses and define their permissions within that course.

Get ready to…

• Enrol users in your course
• Assign enrolment roles (student, teacher, TA, manager)
• Manage enrolment status

Enrol users in your course

1. Navigate to the course enrolment management interface. You can usually find this by clicking “Enrolments” or “Manage Students” in your course.

2. Click “Add Enrolment” or “Enrol User”.

3. Select a user to enrol:

   • Search for users by name or email
   • Select the user you want to enrol
   • Choose their enrolment role (see roles below)

4. Set enrolment details:

   • Role: Choose from Student, Teacher, Teaching Assistant (TA), or Manager
   • Status: Set to Active (default), Inactive, Completed, or Dropped
   • Groups (optional): Assign the user to groups (we’ll cover this in the next step)

5. Save the enrolment.

   Paideia LMS has four distinct enrolment roles:

   • Student: Standard learner role
   • Teacher: Primary instructor with full course control
   • Teaching Assistant (TA): Support role with limited instructor permissions
   • Manager: Administrative support role

6. Understand what each role can do:

   Student:

   • View course content
   • Submit assignments
   • Take quizzes
   • Participate in discussions

   Teacher:

   • Manage all course content
   • Grade student work
   • Manage enrolments
   • Access course settings

   Teaching Assistant (TA):

   • Grade student work
   • View course settings
   • Assist with course management tasks

   Manager:

   • Manage enrolments
   • Access course settings
   • View reports and analytics

7. Update enrolment status as needed:

   • Active (default): User is actively enrolled and participating
   • Inactive: Enrolment is temporarily paused
   • Completed: User has successfully completed the course
   • Dropped: User has withdrawn from the course

8. View enrolment information:

   • See all course participants in the enrolment interface
   • View user details (name, email)
   • Check current role and status
   • See last access information
